Job definition and responsibilities for a Product Development Manager at a small optical components manufacturer tasked with developing a new production line: Job Title: Product Development Manager – Optical Componentss).
Select and validate materials (e.g., fused silica, optical glass).
3. Production Line Setup Specify and procure production equipment (e.g., CNC polishing, metrology tools, coating systems).
Develop and document manufacturing processes and quality control protocols.
Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
4. Supplier & Vendor Management Identify and qualify suppliers for raw materials and specialized services.
Collaborate with vendors on tooling, automation, and metrology solutions.
5. Quality & Compliance Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and relevant optical industry standards.
Work with QA to establish inspection criteria and test protocols.
6. Team Development Hire and train production and engineering staff.
Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and technical excellence.

דרישות:
Candidate ProfileMSc/PhD in physics, chemical physics, or semiconductor device physics
Ability of conducting and leading independent research and development
Good communication skills and ability to work with internal and external partners
Good muti-tasking capabilities
Experience in project management – advantage
Knowledge of measurement methods and data analysis. Matlab / Phyton – advantage.
