teva has over 6,000 employees at factories scattered around the country, from kiryat shmoneh in the north to be’er sheva in the south. teva israel is made up of five units: chemistry, r&d, operations, marketing and headquarters.

what is the vision that has guided the company over the years?
teva is a global, israeli company whose vision is to become one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies through its position as the unchallenged leader of the worldwide generic drugs industry and through global development of selected innovative products based primarily on israeli science.
what is the operations department involved in?
the operations department is teva’s largest department and accounts for almost one-third of teva’s workforce in israel. the department’s central site is in kfar saba, which houses the headquarters, a tablet factory, the sterile factory and the generic r&d department. there are also three factories in jerusalem and another factory in ashdod.
each factory has its own area of specialization, including a range of unique products it manufactures, in addition to dealings with various markets around the world. teva factories are on the vanguard of pharmaceutical technology and the company’s growth process is constant.
how would you describe the working environment?
the tablet factory in jerusalem, for instance, is teva’s youngest manufacturing plant. the factory was built to provide a solution for the constant growth in orders by the us market, to maintain the high level of service for customers during periods of increased orders and production of various preparations sold in large quantities.
the factory was official inaugurated on september 12, 2005 and is very advanced technologically and architecturally, serving as a “pilgrimage site” for many visitors from israel and abroad. at the end of 2008 the factory appointed 600 workers and is constantly growing. the tablet factory produces preparations using the dry production method (tables and capsules).

how does production at teva in jerusalem differ from other companies in the market?
teva distinguishes itself from other companies through a combination of generic and unique operations. we set ourselves apart in three major ways:
• using gravity as a means of transferring substances during various production processes.
• an automated warehouses that allows the transport of substances from the point of issue to the production suite and back, with no human contact.
• an advanced computerized system to manage the production floor.

which jobs are the new engineers slated to take up?
teva plants offer a wide range of jobs in the fields of operations and operations management, allowing candidates to enter key managerial and professional posts. the jobs are primarily field work, managing work teams, assimilating advanced new technologies and real-time problem-solving.
one example of the jobs open to mechanical engineers is head of the packaging department.
this job entails managing a large work team of over 40 employees, managing the department’s daily schedule and preparing work plans, responsibility for meeting the department’s production goals, quality guidelines, hiring employees to the department, supervising employees and solving problems and meeting various needs. it also involves working with numerous interfaces both inside and outside of the factory, assimilating new production technologies and more.
