Avi Davidov, Quality Assurance Worker, Fundtech

avi davidov, 30, lives in bat yam with his wife and child. with the help of the jobnet site he found his current job as a quality assurance worker at fundtech, which develops financial software products and implements them at companies. avi, who holds a b.a. in computer science from the school of administration, worked as a shift manager at a messenger-service company. “when i graduated, the high-tech industry was in a slump, so for a year and a half i didn’t put much effort into looking for a job since i didn’t have any work experience. i realized with my limited employment background i would have to wait for the high-tech industry to pick up. in the newspaper want ads the job requirements were very high (years of experience, extensive knowledge of specific fields, etc.) and were not for people in my circumstances. i spent two years looking for work in my field.”

avi found jobnet via a search engine and within two months began working for fundtech. he says he is very pleased with the working conditions at his new job.

now that you’ve been hired, how does it feel?

“i feel like i got a whole new start in life. the work is very challenging. i’m constantly learning new things and there’s a real family feeling. it goes without saying the employment terms in the industry are excellent. the company is involved in developing international clearing systems. it has 80 employees in israel with another ten branches abroad. the employees are very high-caliber people and the amount of know-how everyone carries with him is tremendous because the system the company is developing is super complex. the veteran workers say even after years at the company not a day goes by without them learning something new – which is really great.

“i think some sort of body should be set up for people who have graduated, but have no experience or connections. for them the task of looking for work is hard, exhausting and very frustrating. there are very talented and highly motivated people out there in the market just looking for an opportunity to prove themselves, and today it’s very hard for them to find work.

“for people on the outside the key words are patience and perseverance. a lot of my friends who graduated with me have undergone retraining. today they are not working in the field, which is a real shame. there were many times when i almost threw in the towel. two years after finishing your degree you’re really burned out. things may not look very encouraging, but believe in yourself and success will come.

“i always tell my friends and acquaintances to use jobnet’s services because no other job-search site is so simple and effective and reaches out to every potential worker. i’m sure had i known about your site two years ago i would have found work a long time ago. i found a whole lot of positions at jobnet i wouldn’t have arrived at through any other channel: jobs for students, for people without experience, for recent graduates. also, the positions get updated daily and sending resumes is not complicated. i owe you a whole lot.”
