barkan mounts is a private company founded two decades ago. the company specializes in research, development and manufacture of mounting systems for electronic entertainment products, whose aim is to enhance the consumer’s viewing experience. the company has 180 employees and is in a period of accelerated growth.
most of the company’s activity (85%) consists of exports to markets around the world. development, design and production all take place in israel, in the ariel industrial zone.

what is the job of project engineer all about?
the division of engineering and development has an engineering department whose main tasks are preparing the company for the transition from development to production, improving and streamlining production at the company through improving, planning and characterizing machinery and checking production processes from an engineering perspective. we’re also looking for a candidate who’s right for the managerial reserve, which is drawn from to fill executive positions at the company.
what areas of responsibility does the job include?
the job of project manager includes creatively and innovatively translating prototypes, preparing them for the transition from development to serial production in the following areas:
- characterizing machines for development by outside manufacturers
- planning new machines
- planning revamping of existing machines
the work is done using the solid edge program.
the position also includes managing the construction of machines and equipment as a project using resources such as people, budget funds, equipment and formulating and updating guidelines and knowledge documents, thereby having an impact on the work methods and their implementation in the company doctrine.
what kind of people are you looking for professionally and as individuals?
we’re looking for a high-caliber individual with at least three years’ experience developing components and products from metal and plastic, or experience in developing machines that integrate electricity/hydraulics/pneumatics. we’re also looking for experience in computerized planning using 3-d software and an understanding of the transition to production. furthermore, we’d like to find a person who is creative, a go-getter and of upstanding conduct, ideally with experience managing projects and strong language abilities in hebrew and english – speaking, reading and writing. an experienced engineer, ideally with a background in command or management, could fit our needs and serve as a managerial reserve at the company.
what special abilities does the job require?
the skills required are really the same as any other job at the company. we’re always on the lookout for powerhouse achievers who are able to get things rolling and make them happen, with an emphasis on creativity, reliability and responsibility.
what is the challenge underlying this job?
we’re currently number two in europe in our field, and the challenge is to become number one and be the leading company in europe. our growth rate is faster than the competition’s, so within two years we expect to take the lead. in order to make this goal come true we need to meet the most stringent quality standards while continuing to streamline our production ability and be better than all of the competitors. the project engineer has a central role at the company. he has to be a vital part of the department, handling the streamlining of production and processes while meeting quality requirements.
